A Wellbeing Training Programme for Youth Workers and Youth Organisations
A five-day training programme for youth workers and youth organisations on wellbeing, mental health, connection and resilience. It combines movement, nature, theatre, circus and acroyoga with reflection exercises, so that participants try the techniques themselves before using them with the young people they work with.

About this guide
This programme grew out of a one-week wellbeing training for youth workers first run in Northern Germany in 2022, as part of a SALTO Training of Trainers practice project. Feedback from that training pointed to the need for more time, more shared practice and continuity between sessions. WELLCORE developed these into a full programme. The partners are SCIARA (Italy), DEFOIN (Spain), Impact Drive (Bulgaria) and Highlights e.V. (Germany).
The programme starts from the view that wellbeing in youth work should be approached in person, in contact with nature, and from several dimensions at once. It is built around four modules: wellbeing through movement therapies, mental health and connection through nature and theatre, cooperation and consent through circus and acroyoga, and resilience through play. These are spread over five training days (plus an introductory Day 0), and a tree serves as the common metaphor from arrival and roots to shared fruits. Each day has a slow start, a morning session, an afternoon session and, on some days, an informal evening session.
Every activity is written up with its objectives, timing, facilitation tips, and preparation tasks for the trainers, and each can also be used on its own with a group of young people or other youth workers. The main target group is youth workers and youth organisations. Vulnerable young people aged 18 to 30 are the end beneficiaries. The programme includes annexes with a reflection template and a progressive muscle relaxation guide. It aims to be piloted with at least 40 youth workers across the partner countries.
